A total of nine-hundred fifty (950) pieces of face shields developed by the Department of Science and Technology - Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC) were donated and distributed to public and private hospitals, as well as local government units in Zamboanga Del Sur, through the DOST IX - Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC).
Of the 950, 330 pieces were given to five (5) public hospitals, namely, the Midsalip Infirmary Hospital, Mahayag District Hospital, Kuta Cesar L. Sang-an Station Hospital (Tabak, Labangan), Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center (Dao, Pagadian City), and the Margosatubig Regional Hospital.
13 private hospitals all over Zamboanga del Sur, namely, the Happy Valley Community Hospital, Pagadian City Medical Center (Mendero Hospital), Aurora Community & Emergency (ACE) Hospital, Hofilena Hospital, Metro Pagadian Hospital, Jamelarin Hospital, J. Cabahug Hospital, Borbon General Hospital, Inc., Pagadian Doctors Hospital, AISAH Medical Hospital, Salug Valley Medical Center, Blancia Hospital, and the Lorenzo Tan Multi-Purpose Cooperative Hospital received a share of 520 face shields. While the LGU-Pagadian and Provincial LGU of Zamboanga del Sur received 50 pieces each.
To date, a total of one thousand four-hundred fifty (1450) face shields have been donated by the DOST IX – PSTC-ZDS to various recipients in Zamboanga del Sur.

The initiative is in support to front liners battling CoViD-19, and in compliance to the CoViD-19 prevention protocols indicated by Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) guidelines in the province.
Amid the CoViD-19 pandemic, DOST-IX unceasingly extends services and support to different institutions in the community through technology innovations that would benefit and ensure the safety and well-being of the people.
