With the website “http://onestore.ph” which was recently launched by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), you can now order / purchase online quality products assisted / supported by the agency through its banner program,Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP).
DOST IX Assistant Regional Director Mr. Martin A. Wee said that DOST’s OneStore uses an e-commerce web application that operates nationwide. It aimed at assisting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) market their products both locally and internationally. The project is targeting to promote and sell around 10,000 DOST-assisted products across the country. It gives opportunities both for MSMEs and customers with an effortless selling / shopping experiences using fast and direct transaction scheme through the Internet and mobile application technology.
Since its launching last July 2015 during the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) celebration in Manila, OneStore project had already uploaded / featured over 600 products ranging from food, agriculture, furniture, handicrafts, metals, and other things such as charcoal related-products, bath essentials, personalized gifts and jewelry, religious items, and schools and universities accessories.
DOST Region 2, project leader is continuing to do website enhancements to ensure better functionality and usability.
To date, 18 products generated from DOST IX SETUP beneficiaries can be ordered online and the number is expected to increase within the year. Initially, the products from Zamboanga Peninsula region are Montano’s bottled sardines, Cathy’s Kitchen pastries, Deli Food line calamansi concentrates, juices; Nutri-booster cereals; and Woodtech Builders’ furnitures and various creative wood decors.
SETUP is a nationwide strategy encouraging and assisting micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs) to adopt technology innovations to improve operations and boost productivity and competitiveness.Through this program, MSMEs can address technical / production problems through DOST interventions such as 1) system improvement – upgrading of equipment to improve productivity; 2)product development – with better product quality; 3) manpower development - training on the operation and maintenance of equipment, basic sanitation and hygiene and good manufacturing practices; and 4) process improvement - technical consultancy on proper plant lay-outing).(DOST IX PRESS RELEASE)
