The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office No. IX (DOST IX) announces its successful renewal of ISO 9001:2008 Certification following a two (2) day reassessment and surveillance audit conducted on January 06 & 07, 2014 in Zamboanga City.
The certification (CIP/4068/07/12/552), dated 03 February 2014, and is valid until 02 February 2017, was issued by the Certification International Philippines, Incorporated (CIPI), an internationally renowned ISO certifying body.
The certification states that DOST IX operates a Quality Management System (QMS) conforming to the ISO 9001:2008. The DOST IX’s business processes such as the 1) Provision of Technology Transfer Services; 2) Science Promotion; 3) S&T Information Dissemination; and 4) S&T Scholarships are well covered by the recertification.
The ISO 9001:2008 specifies requirements for a QMS where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. Moreover, it aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement.
The ISO Certification renewal is not an outright privilege. It requires an annual surveillance audit and a more thorough reassessment audit every three years, to ensure that DOST IX QMS compliance is consistent.
With this, DOST IX is expected to deliver quality S&T services to its customers. The agency is the 1st DOST regional office in the country to implement a QMS that conforms to international standards. The first certification was issued on January 22, 2008. (DOST-IX Press Release)
