The Department of Science and Technology IX (DOST-IX), in cooperation with the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI) and various inventors’ organizations in the region, is staging the 2013 Regional Invention Contests and Exhibits(RICE 2013) in November 28 to December 1 this year.
RICE 2013 is the elimination/qualifying round for the National Invention Contest which will be held in July 2014. The competition shall serve as venue for showcasing the products of creativity /inventiveness/ingenuity of local inventors and researchers. It is one of the Department’s initiatives to help develop a more productive and innovative S&T sector.
Dubbed on the theme “Inventions and Innovations for Smarter Philippines,” local researchers and inventors who have developed new and innovative projects / models will compete in six (6) categories: 1) Invention (Tuklas Award); 2) Utility Model; 3) Industrial Design; 4) Creative Research (Likha Award); 5) Student Creative Research-College Level (Sibol Award); and 6)Student Creative Research-High School Level (Sibol Award).
One qualifier per category will receive a cash prize and certificate of recognition during the Awarding and Closing Ceremonies and will serve as finalist for the National Invention Contest.
Apart from the competition and exhibit, Researchers and Inventors Fellowship Night; Symposium on “Science & Technology and Innovation: The Road to a Smarter Philippines”; Seminar-Workshop on R&D Proposal Preparation; and Dialogues are activities lined up for the week-long celebration.
Come and celebrate with us during the 2013 RICE! This important gathering of Filipino inventors and innovators is in cooperation with ZDN Research and Inventors Association. The Opening Ceremonies will be on Thursday, 28 November 2013, 9:00 am, at Gaisano Mall, Pagadian City. The venue is open from 9am to 9pm.
