If yes, you are encouraged to avail of the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) undergraduate scholarships. Acceptance of application is now open until August 23, 2013.

DOST-SEI offers two scholarship programs, the Merit Scholarships Program and RA 7687 Scholarship Program, open to poor, talented and deserving students. The awardees shall be selected on the basis of their performance in the S&T Scholarship examination that will be conducted on 22 September 2013.

Applicants to the scholarship program must be high school seniors belonging to the upper 5% of the graduating class and natural-born Filipino citizens of good moral character and must not be applying for resident or immigration status in any country.

Those who have already earned units in any post-secondary / undergraduate course or have taken any DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examinations are disqualified from applying. Moreover, applicants to the S&T Scholarship (RA 7687) must have been a resident of the municipality for the last four (4) years, as attested by barangay / school records.

Scholarship awardees must seek admission and enroll in any of the institutions identified by DOST-SEI. Aside from maintaining the grade requirements, awardees should comply with the terms of the scholarship agreement that include, among others, serving in the country on full-time basis along the field of training for a minimum period equivalent to the length of time the scholarship was enjoyed upon completion of the course.

Among the privileges that DOST scholars will be receiving are free tuition and school fees subsidy up to P8,000/semester, textbooks and school supplies allowance, physical education uniform allowance, free transportation for one economy-class round trip fare between permanent residence and the place of study on reimbursement basis (for those studying outside their place of permanent residence), monthly living allowance, group health and accident insurance, additional privileges during summer, if required by the curriculum, and post-graduation clothing allowance.
