As a key strategic measure to promote innovation and creativity, the Department of Science and Technology-IX, in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-IX) and the Intellectual Property Office Philippines (IPOPHL) is conducting a Seminar on Intellectual Property (IP) and Patent Drafting on September 21-23, 2011 atTeracota Fastfood and Restaurant, Tumaga, Zamboanga City.
Some 50 participants composed of local inventors, researchers and professionals have confirmed to attend the 3-day event.
Specifically, the seminar is aimed at providing participants with the basic knowledge on Intellectual Property (IP) to enable them to better appreciate and understand the importance of a Patent Document in the industrialization of the country. The seminar will tackle processes on how to prepare patent application, such as description and claims, and the fundamentals on how to prepare patent drawings - as requirements in filing a Patent, Utility Model and Industrial Design Applications.
Aside from the lectures on IP, the participants will have a Workshop on Patent Drafting.
Among the resource speakers are the Patent specialists from IPOPHL and the National Economic Research and Business Action Center IX (NERBAC IX).
The activity expects to produce 10 drafts of Patent Application ready for filing, 5 Patent Drawings (Perspective) and 10 Patent Writers. (DOST IX PRESS RELEASE)
