A total of 30 participants composed of existing ice cream makers, hotel and restaurant owners, and prospective businessmen actively participated in the Technology Investment Forum and Demo on Low Fat, Low Sugar Ice Cream held at the Bamboo Garden Social Hall, Dipolog City from July 23, 2009.
The Low Fat, Low Sugar Ice Cream in the classic vanilla flavour is a delicious and inviting dessert. The ice cream contains 3.5% protein and energy of 139 kcal per 100 grams sample, which is much lower than regular ice cream, is a good choice for weight-watchers. The fat content of low-fat ice cream is only 1.7% compared with regular ice cream which may contain 5 to 20% fat. The event was organized by the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office No. IX (DOST-IX) in line with the annual observance of the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW). This year?s regional celebration was held in Dipolog City. The celebration was anchored on the theme ?Responding Global Challenges through Science and Technology? with sub-theme ?Saanman, Kailanman, S&T ay Kailangan?. Other activities slated during the celebration were Training on Bath Soap, Lotion, and Shampoo Production, Techno-Preneurship Forum for SMEs, Product Packaging Assessment and Consultation, and Seminar on Basic Sanitation and Hygiene.
