DOST IX through the Provincial Science and Technology Office - Zamboanga del Norte (PSTO-ZDN) is calling interested technopreneurs to submit project proposals for funding consideration next year under the agency’s Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP).
SETUP is the DOST’s flagship program which aims to encourage and assist micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in adopting technology and innovations to enhance operational efficiency, boost productivity, and promote competitiveness of products and services.
The program supports MSMEs to undergo upgrading of their manufacturing processes and improve their productivity through the acquisition of appropriate equipment, application of DOST-generated technologies, and other interventions such as trainings, consultancy services and access to laboratory services.
SETUP is open to any MSMEs which have been existing for at least three years. The company should be based in the Philippines and wholly owned by Filipino citizens. The program offers assistance to MSMEs belonging to priority sectors such as food processing, marine and aquaculture, horticulture, metals and engineering, gifts, decors, and handicrafts (GDH), furniture, information and communications technology (ICT) or electronics, and Halal.
To date, a total of 148 projects (MSMEs) amounting to P138,321,330.90 have been funded by the agency in Zamboanga del Norte.
