The DOST-IX, together with the consultants from Quality Partners Company, Ltd., successfully conducted the 3 Phases for Year 2: Cycle 2 of the knowledge transfer activities for the selected 20 DOST Technical Staff (DTS) from the 16 DOST Regional Offices in the country. The three (3) training phases carried out within the period June to October 2022 are part of the activities under the DOST PCIEERD-funded project "Knowledge Transfer (KT) to DTS: Catalysts to MSMEs’ Gaining PQA for SMEs.
ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY RICE MILLING FACILITY GETS OVER ₱1.5M IN DOST ASSISTANCE

The LV6 Rice Mill had been provided S&T assistance amounting to ₱1,545,000.00 under the DOST’s Small Enterprise Upgrading Program (SETUP). The firm, based in Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay, availed of the program to upgrade their palay drying process from solar to mechanical.
The acquired 8.5-ton mechanical unit utilizes indirect biomass furnace technology to reduce the grains’ moisture content, often rice and corn, to a level ideal for storage. The whole process only takes 24 hours, thereby reducing rejects due to spoilage.

The meeting centered on the alignment of DOST Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPA) to the 8-point socioeconomic agenda of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
ZamboSibugay Agri-based firm receives DOST tech upgrading

Guerrero Milling & Mechanical Drying Service, an Agri-based firm based in Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay, received funding assistance from the Department of Science and Technology – Regional Office No. IX through its Provincial Science and Technology Office - Zamboanga Sibugay Province (PSTO-ZSP). The firm availed the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) for the provision of one (1) unit mechanical grain dryer with a biomass furnace system. The dryer is part of the opportunities for improvement (OFIs) identified by the PSTO-ZSP team during the Technology Needs Assessment (TNA). The Innovation Fund (iFund) amounted to One Million Five Hundred Forty-Five Thousand Pesos (₱1,545,000.00).
