Representatives of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) recently gathered to identify Research and Development (R&D) priorities in the region during the Regional Basic Research Caravan held last February 12-13, 2020 held in the Octagon Hall of the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST), Zamboanga City.

Two (2) waste management technologies have recently been introduced to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of the Sirawai municipality in Zamboanga del Norte.

180k sci-tech grant released to conflict-vulnerable IP community in Zamboanga Sibugay

A grant worth ₱180,000.00 had recently been released to an Indigenous Peoples (IP) community based in Zamboanga Sibugay for the enhancement of the group’s Rattan furniture production capabilities.
Awarded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through its Grants-In-Aid (GIA) program, the grant has been used to acquire a wicker machine capable of processing rattan into various types of furniture, and can also be used to re-process generated waste material for value-adding. Aside from automating traditional and time-consuming processes, the technology is also expected to cut operational costs by 48%.
