The Department of Science and Technology IX (DOST IX) and the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) continues to accept applications, nominations and recommendations for the Best Mentor in Health Research Award.

The Best Mentor Award is offered biennially to recognize and reward mentors in health research who have built the capacities of researchers in the health sector and, in the process, propelled significant advances in the Philippine National Health Research System’s (PNHRS) thrusts as identified in the National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA).

Filipino citizens actively involved in mentoring researchers / students or colleagues for at least 5 years qualify for the award. Nominations can be made by heads of institutions, immediate supervisor/s, colleague/s, trainee/s, or student/advisee. Self-nominations and past winners of the award cannot be nominated.

Winners will receive a plaque of appreciation and cash incentives (PhP 100,000 for each of the cluster winners and PhP 200,000 for the National winner). Nominations may be submitted to the Consortium until February 20, 2017, while DOST-PCHRD will be accepting submissions till February 27, 2017.

Application / nomination forms are available at the DOST IX regional office in Pettit Barracks, Zamboanga City. Copies of the said documents are also posted in the DOST-PCHRD website (http://www.pchrd.dost.gov.ph/). Interested participants should use the prescribed forms.
